Staff Reporter, Duranta TV, Agartala, 23 May:
The Tripura Secretariat is currently witnessing intense discussions surrounding senior Finance Department bureaucrat Akinchan Sarkar over explosive land-related documents and administrative reports. According to administrative circles, a detailed 1308-page report prepared by the Unakoti district administration has already reached the Secretariat. The report reportedly contains several important documents, records, and findings related to land matters involving Akinchan Sarkar. The arrival of this report has triggered visible unease within the administrative corridors.

Sources in the Secretariat stated that Akinchan Sarkar had allegedly sensed in advance that an investigative report regarding land-related issues was being prepared against him. Around that time, Unakoti District Magistrate Tamal Majumdar was suddenly transferred and brought to the Secretariat. Simultaneously, an IAS officer considered close to Akinchan Sarkar was reportedly posted in the district. According to a section of officials, the move was allegedly intended to influence the administrative handling and direction of the report.

However, before the transfer took effect, the then District Magistrate reportedly completed the full report and handed it over officially before leaving charge. The report subsequently reached the Secretariat, after which unusual activity reportedly increased within the Land Revenue (LR) Cell. Administrative circles say the report is currently undergoing detailed scrutiny at a special level.
The issue has also brought retired TCS officer Arun Kumar Roy into the spotlight. He is known to be a close associate of Akinchan Sarkar. Questions are now being raised in administrative circles regarding how impartial an investigation can remain when a close associate is involved in examining matters related to allegations against a friend. Arun Kumar Roy had previously served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Amarpur and later as Additional District Magistrate of Gomati district for a certain period. He was subsequently posted in the Revenue Department of the Secretariat until his retirement. Even after retirement, he was reappointed to the same position.

However, Secretariat sources indicate that Arun Kumar Roy is not entirely in agreement with Akinchan Sarkar’s position in this matter and has maintained a cautious approach regarding the contents of the report. A section within the Secretariat fears that if any manipulation is attempted in the 1308-page report from Unakoti in an effort to protect Akinchan Sarkar, officials responsible for handling the file could themselves face future legal complications.
Internal sources in the Secretariat further revealed that strict restrictions are currently being maintained inside the LR Cell while the files are under examination. Entry into the section has reportedly been heavily controlled during the review process, giving rise to widespread speculation within administrative circles.
Meanwhile, significant portions of the 1308-page PDF report sent from Unakoti district to the Secretariat have also reached Duranta TV through reliable sources. Alongside this, Duranta TV has also received a 434-page CAG report related to the Finance Department, reportedly containing references to multiple financial irregularities and questionable administrative activities. According to administrative observers, these documents may trigger major controversy involving the Finance Department in the coming days. Many believe the issues highlighted in the 434-page CAG report could further deepen Akinchan Sarkar’s troubles.

At the same time, another topic has become a major point of discussion inside the Secretariat. Following a series of reports and allegations surfacing publicly, Akinchan Sarkar is reportedly under severe mental pressure. According to sources, he has recently been seeking what many describe as “spiritual” or “supernatural” solutions to escape the ongoing crisis.
From the homes of Kali devotees in Banamalipur and Bhattapukur to the residence of a religious healer in Karimganj, discussions about his visits have reportedly become common gossip within the Secretariat. Conversations are also circulating regarding his increasing contact with various spiritual figures, tantriks, ojhas, and religious healers.

Fearing the consequences of the allegations and controversies surrounding him, Akinchan Sarkar reportedly approached a self-styled tantric in search of relief from the mounting scandals. On May 17, 2026, he allegedly visited the residence of a tantric named Sudarshan Deb, located in a lane opposite the Kalyan Samiti Club area of Bardowali, Agartala. His appeal was reportedly simple — to find a way out of the controversies and allegations surrounding him. However, according to information available, even the tantric eventually gave up and could not offer any “solution” capable of protecting him from the crisis.

With such developments surrounding a senior Finance Department official, questions are naturally being raised in both political and administrative circles. Attention is now focused on the possible administrative and legal consequences of the 1308-page land report — along with the already sensitive 434-page CAG report.
